Overview

Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 30 (ZSCAN30) is a protein-coding gene and transcription factor belonging to the zinc finger protein family. It contains both C2H2-type zinc finger domains and a SCAN domain, which are characteristic features mediating DNA-binding and protein-protein interactions, respectively. ZSCAN30 is predicted to function as a DNA-binding transcription factor specific for RNA polymerase II, regulating transcription from RNA polymerase II promoters. The protein is primarily localized to the nucleus. ZSCAN30 is expressed at low tissue specificity and is most closely associated with transcriptional regulation. Paralogous to ZNF397, it is part of the broader family of zinc finger transcription factors that modulate gene expression. Disease association has been noted with pancreatic acinar cell adenocarcinoma, but no direct evidence exists for its use as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or for involvement with approved drugs or small molecules[1][2][3][6][7].
