Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 31 (ZSCAN31) is a protein encoded by the ZSCAN31 gene, featuring multiple C2H2-type zinc finger motifs and a SCAN domain, which facilitate DNA binding and protein-protein interactions, respectively. ZSCAN31 functions as a transcription factor, modulating gene expression especially during embryonic development. It has been implicated in tumorigenesis, notably in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where its overexpression correlates with poor patient prognosis and may serve as a biomarker for disease severity.
