Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 5D pseudogene (ZSCAN5DP) is a predicted pseudogene in humans, located on chromosome 19. It shares sequence homology with the protein-coding zinc finger and SCAN domain family but has lost its protein-coding ability due to mutations and is not believed to produce a functional protein. ZSCAN5DP is annotated as likely having DNA-binding transcription factor activity and being involved in regulating transcription by RNA polymerase II, based on homology and predicted functional domains, but this activity has not been experimentally confirmed. There are no known approved drugs or established mechanisms of action targeting ZSCAN5DP, and it is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target[1][4].
