Zinc finger C2HC domain-containing protein 1A (ZC2HC1A) is a member of the zinc finger protein family, containing a C2HC-type domain, and is encoded by the ZC2HC1A gene (also known as C8orf70, FAM164A, CGI-62)[2][6]. This protein is predicted to possess metal ion binding activity as a result of its zinc finger domain[2][4]. Zinc finger motifs commonly allow proteins to bind DNA, RNA, or other proteins, often with roles in transcriptional regulation, genome stability, and protein-protein interactions[3][5][1]. However, specific biological functions, drug interactions, or disease roles for this protein have not been well described in current scientific literature[2][4][6]. There is an observed fusion of ZC2HC1A with angiopoietin 1 (ANGPT1) in some cancer gene fusion databases, but the role of ZC2HC1A alone as a therapeutic target is unsubstantiated at this time[6].
