Zinc finger CCCH domain-containing protein 18 (ZC3H18) is a nuclear CCCH-type zinc finger protein that participates in multiple aspects of RNA metabolism. It binds to the mRNA cap binding complex and acts as a protein-macromolecule adaptor. ZC3H18 is thought to contribute to the destabilization of RNA and is predominantly found in nuclear speckles. While many CCCH-type zinc finger proteins are involved in immune responses and viral regulation, ZC3H18 specifically has not been implicated directly in these disease contexts. It appears to play a general role in the regulation of RNA within the nucleus, including potentially influencing RNA splicing and export. There is currently no evidence that ZC3H18 is a direct drug target or therapeutic biomarker.
