Zinc finger CCCH-type and G-patch domain containing protein (ZGPAT) is a human transcriptional repressor characterized by CCCH-type zinc finger and G-patch domains. It enables DNA-binding and acts as a transcriptional repressor by recruiting the NuRD chromatin remodeling complex to specific promoters, with activity including negative regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression. ZGPAT is involved in cell proliferation and may play a role as a tumor suppressor, particularly in breast carcinogenesis. Additionally, ZGPAT is implicated in pre-mRNA splicing via interaction with the spliceosomal tri-snRNP complex, further influencing gene expression and cellular growth. Alternative splice variants can modify its repressor activity by competing for NuRD complex binding, modulating cellular responses[1][3].
