Zinc finger CCCH-type antiviral protein 1-like (ZC3HAV1L) is a cytosolic protein encoded by the ZC3HAV1L gene on human chromosome 7[2][3][6][8]. It is a member of the CCCH-type zinc finger protein family and is distinct from the well-studied ZC3HAV1 (also known as ZAP, a true antiviral protein)[1]. Recent transcriptomic and fusion gene analyses suggest a role for ZC3HAV1L in the generation of chimeric RNA transcripts via trans-splicing, possibly contributing to RNA processing diversity in normal human tissues[2]. The gene has several aliases, including C7orf39 and MGC14289, and has been found associated—though not mechanistically implicated—with conventional leiomyosarcoma[3]. However, there is no direct evidence that it acts as a classical therapeutic target, such as a receptor or enzyme, nor is there evidence for direct disease causation or drug interactions[3][6][8].
