Overview

Zinc finger CCCH-type containing protein 7B (ZC3H7B) is a human protein containing multiple functional domains, notably several **CCCH-type zinc fingers**, a **tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR)** region (involved in protein–protein interactions), and a paxillin leucine-aspartate (LD) repeat[2][4][5]. ZC3H7B (also called RoXaN) is an RNA-binding protein that can recognize specific RNA motifs and regulate miRNA processing by binding to primary miRNA hairpins[5]. It is also known for interacting with the rotavirus non-structural protein NSP3, thereby contributing to the regulation of viral and host mRNA translation during rotavirus infection[2][4][5][7]. ZC3H7B participates in fundamental processes such as RNA metabolism and protein complex assembly, supported by its domain composition. Clinically, the expression of ZC3H7B has been reported to correlate with higher tumor grade in gastrointestinal stromal tumors, and gene rearrangements involving ZC3H7B (such as ZC3H7B-BCOR fusion) are implicated in certain sarcomas[5][6]. There are currently no drugs known to specifically target ZC3H7B, and its status as a therapeutic target is unestablished.
