Overview

Zinc finger CCHC domain-containing protein 10 (ZCCHC10) is a member of the CCHC-type zinc finger protein superfamily characterized by the presence of a zinc-knuckle motif that confers high-affinity binding to single-stranded nucleic acids and supports protein-protein interactions, notably with tumor suppressor p53[1][2][5]. ZCCHC10 stabilizes and activates p53 by preventing its ubiquitin-mediated degradation, inducing cell cycle arrest at G1 phase and promoting apoptosis, particularly in cancer cells[2][4]. It is epigenetically silenced in some cancers by lncRNA SNHG1 and can be reactivated by hypomethylating agents or SNHG1 knockdown, which enhances sensitivity to drugs like venetoclax in AML[4]. ZCCHC10 has emerged as a promising tumor suppressor and therapeutic target in hematological and solid cancers due to its critical role in controlling cell proliferation and cell death through the p53 pathway[2][4].
