Overview

Zinc finger CCHC domain-containing protein 13 (ZCCHC13) is a member of the zinc finger CCHC-type superfamily, characterized by the presence of a CCHC zinc finger motif (C-X2-C-X4-H-X4-C, known as a zinc-knuckle), which mediates high-affinity binding to single-stranded nucleic acids, especially RNA[1][3]. ZCCHC family proteins, including ZCCHC13, predominantly function as RNA-binding proteins involved in various aspects of RNA metabolism such as transcription, splicing, translation, and degradation[1][3]. ZCCHC13 is expressed in the central nervous system and cytoplasm, and is thought to be involved in the positive regulation of cytoplasmic translation, but precise specific functions and disease associations of ZCCHC13 remain poorly characterized. It is not commonly referenced as a direct therapeutic target, and there is no evidence for direct drug interactions or biomarker utility at this time[2][3].
