This pseudogene does not encode a functional protein and does not participate in enzymatic or receptor-mediated processes. While its protein-coding relative, *ZDHHC6*, is part of the palmitoyltransferase enzyme family that modifies other proteins through palmitoylation, the pseudogene itself has no known biological, pharmacological, or clinical significance. It is not considered a therapeutic target[3].
