Target intelligence / Profile preview
Zinc finger DHHC-type containing protein 11B (ZDHHC11B) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a probable S-palmitoyltransferase enzyme, predicted to catalyze the post-translational modification of proteins via S-acylation (the addition of palmitate to protein cysteine residues)[2][3][5]. ZDHHC11B belongs to the DHHC (Asp-His-His-Cys) domain-containing zinc finger protein family, which regulates diverse cellular processes through controlling protein localization and function via palmitoylation. ZDHHC11B is localized to the Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, and endosome membranes[2]. Recent research implicates ZDHHC11B as a tumor suppressor in lung adenocarcinoma: decreased expression in tumor tissue correlates with worse patient prognosis and increased tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, mediated at least in part by suppression of EMT signaling pathways[1]. While it is not currently a direct therapeutic target of approved drugs, its expression and function in critical signaling pathways highlight its relevance in cancer biology and its potential as a future biomarker or target[1][2][5].
No drugs are known to directly target ZDHHC11B; however, modulation of its enzyme activity would alter palmitoylation status of substrate proteins, affecting downstream cellular functions, including proliferative signaling and metastasis[1][2][3][5].
