Zinc finger homeobox protein 2 (ZFHX2) is a DNA-binding transcription factor characterized by multiple zinc finger and homeobox domains, crucial for the regulation of sensory perception of pain and processing of noxious stimuli. It is located in the nucleus and predominantly influences neuronal gene expression. Mutations in ZFHX2 are implicated in Marsili syndrome, a rare hereditary pain insensitivity disorder, and are associated with hereditary sensory neuropathy.
