**Zinc finger matrin-type protein 5 (ZMAT5)** is a zinc finger protein predicted to bind zinc ions and participate in RNA splicing[2][4][5][7]. It is located in the nucleoplasm and is a component of the U12-type spliceosomal complex, specifically associated with the U11/U12 small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs)[2][5][6][7]. ZMAT5 is not found in the major spliceosome and is involved in mRNA processing by contributing to the splicing of a subset of introns (U12-type introns)[6][7]. There is currently no evidence that ZMAT5 acts as a therapeutic target, is implicated in any particular disease, interacts with drugs, or serves as a biomarker[2][4][5][6][7].
