Zinc finger MYM-type protein 5 (ZMYM5) is a nuclear transcriptional regulator containing MYM-type zinc finger domains, thought to function as a transcriptional repressor by binding to DNA and modulating gene expression through the negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. It is implicated in chromatin organization and may play a part in the tumorigenic process when fused with other genes but is not recognized as a primary therapeutic target or established disease biomarker[3][2][10][1][9][5].
