Zinc finger protein (ZFP)

Target
ZFP
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Protein domain, DNA-binding protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger proteins are a diverse family of protein structural motifs characterized by the coordination of one or more zinc ions that stabilize their fold. They function primarily as interaction modules that bind DNA, RNA, proteins, or other small molecules. These proteins are ubiquitous in biological systems and represent approximately 3% of genes in the human genome. Their ability to be engineered for specific DNA sequence recognition makes them valuable tools for targeted gene regulation with therapeutic potential.
