Zinc finger protein 1 homolog (ZFP1) is a transcription factor belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family, characterized by one or more zinc finger motifs that bind DNA and regulate gene expression[1][3][4][5]. In the mouse, Zfp-1 contains seven zinc fingers and two helix-turn-helix motifs, is ubiquitously expressed, and plays a role in embryonic development, with peak expression in day 12 embryos[1]. The human ZFP1 is structurally similar and predicted to have DNA-binding activity mediated by its zinc fingers. Zinc finger proteins, including ZFP1, form stable structures through coordination with zinc ions and are involved in numerous transcriptional regulatory processes across various species[2][4][6]. Despite extensive research on the zinc finger protein family as a whole, ZFP1 itself has not been directly implicated as a therapeutic target, and no drugs, disease associations, or biomarker data specific to human ZFP1 are currently established. The protein’s canonical classification is as a transcription factor, with its primary role in gene regulation[1][2][4][5].
