Zinc finger protein 12 (ZNF12)

Target
ZNF12
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, C2H2-type zinc finger protein, KRAB domain protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 12 is a DNA-binding transcription factor that encodes a protein with eight C2H2-type zinc finger motifs and a KRAB domain, conferring its ability to regulate gene expression[2]. Like other zinc finger proteins, it is capable of binding to specific DNA sequences, influencing both transcriptional activation and repression of target genes. ZNF12 is part of the large and diverse zinc finger protein family, which functions in the regulation of various cellular processes, including metabolism, autophagy, differentiation, and apoptosis. Despite the broad biological significance of zinc finger proteins, ZNF12 itself has not been implicated in direct disease mechanisms or targeted by pharmacological agents[1][3][2].
