Zinc finger protein 123, pseudogene (ZNF123P) is a non-coding genomic sequence related by homology to zinc finger protein 123 (often abbreviated ZNF123 or HZF-1), a member of the large family of zinc finger proteins. Zinc finger proteins generally function as transcription factors, recognizing specific DNA sequences through zinc ion-coordinated motifs and regulating gene expression in various processes such as cell cycle, differentiation, and DNA repair[1][3][5]. However, ZNF123P is a pseudogene, so it does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target. The functional gene (ZNF123) may play roles in DNA binding and transcriptional regulation, but ZNF123P, as a pseudogene, has no recognized biological function, disease relevance, or role in drug targeting.
