Overview

Zinc finger protein 124 (ZNF124) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF124 gene, characterized by an amino-terminal KRAB-A box and multiple C2H2-type Kruppel-like zinc finger motifs at its carboxy terminus. ZNF124 functions as a transcription factor, generally involved in nucleic acid binding and the regulation of gene expression. It is implicated in promoting cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis, as observed in response to VEGF in leukemia cell lines as well as in the aggressive growth and maintenance of group 3 medulloblastoma cells, where its elevated levels are linked to poor prognosis and increased tumor cell proliferation. Alternative splicing results in multiple ZNF124 isoforms. There are no well-established interacting drugs or safety concerns reported for this protein to date.
