Overview

Zinc finger protein 14 homolog (ZFP14/ZNF531) is a highly conserved poly-zinc finger transcription factor characterized by thirteen zinc finger domains and, typically, a KRAB domain. It is predicted to regulate transcription by binding DNA in a sequence-specific manner and is active primarily in the nucleus. ZFP14 is down-regulated in various human cancers, correlating with poor prognosis and increased expression of tumor-promoting HOXA gene cluster and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Deficiency of ZFP14 in mice causes diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, generalized organ hyperplasia, chronic inflammation, and poor survival, highlighting its critical regulatory role in gene expression and disease. No approved drugs are noted to directly target ZFP14. The molecule is a subject of interest as a disease biomarker and emerging therapeutic target in oncology and inflammation research.
