Zinc finger protein 141 is a member of the Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) domain-containing C2H2-type zinc finger protein family, comprising 474 amino acids and ten zinc finger motifs[1][4][6]. It primarily acts as a DNA-binding transcription factor involved in regulating gene expression and is expressed in tissues such as the testis, brain, pancreas, liver, and others[4]. ZNF141 may act as a transcriptional repressor and has a critical developmental role in limb formation, with mutations associated with autosomal recessive postaxial polydactyly type A[1][4]. Its zinc finger domain contributes to specific nucleic acid binding, and its role as a germ cell-specific transcription factor has been studied in the context of spermatogenesis[2][4][6]. There is currently no evidence that ZNF141 is a direct pharmacological target, nor are there interacting drugs or established safety concerns related to targeting this protein. The physiological and pathological significance of ZNF141 is most clearly established in congenital limb malformations[1][4].
