Overview

Zinc finger protein 142 (ZNF142) is a member of the Kruppel family of C2H2-type zinc finger proteins and contains 31 zinc finger domains[3][5]. It is primarily involved in transcriptional regulation by binding DNA and modulating gene expression[1][3][4][5][6]. ZNF142 plays roles in cell growth, differentiation, and development, with tissue-specific expression patterns indicating its involvement in multiple physiological processes[1]. Pathogenic mutations in ZNF142 can cause neurodevelopmental disorders with intellectual disability, impaired speech, and movement disorders[2][3][6]. There is also evidence linking ZNF142 mutations to increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease[1][3]. The protein forms part of regulatory complexes and networks within the cell and exerts its biological effects mainly through DNA binding and transcriptional regulation activities. Currently, there are no known drugs directly targeting ZNF142, nor is it used as a biomarker or associated with specific safety concerns relating to pharmacological intervention[3][4][5][6].
