Overview

Zinc finger protein 157 (ZNF157) is a member of the zinc finger protein family, characterized by the presence of multiple C2H2-type zinc finger domains and KRAB (Krüppel-associated box) domains, which typically mediate transcriptional repression[3][4][7]. ZNF157 is thought to act as a DNA-binding transcription factor, regulating gene expression via chromatin interactions, though its specific physiological targets and regulatory roles remain incompletely characterized[3][5][7]. It is encoded by a gene on chromosome Xp11.23 and is predicted to function primarily in regulating DNA-templated transcription, potentially influencing lineage balance during development[2]. There is currently no evidence that ZNF157 is a direct therapeutic target, and no known drugs are reported to interact with it. While ZNF157 is associated with certain Mendelian developmental disorders, its broader biological and clinical significance in common diseases and targetable pathways is not well established[3][6].
