Target intelligence / Profile preview

Zinc finger protein 17 (ZNF17)

Target
ZNF17
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, C2H2-type zinc finger protein, DNA-binding protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 17 (ZNF17) is a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. Like other members of this large and diverse group, ZNF17 is predicted to regulate gene expression by binding specific DNA sequences and modulating RNA polymerase II activity. It contains finger-like structural motifs stabilized by zinc ions and is active in the nucleus. While ZNF17 itself does not have well-characterized roles in human disease, C2H2-type zinc finger proteins as a class play essential functions in transcriptional regulation, cell differentiation, and development and are implicated in numerous cellular processes and diseases
