Zinc finger protein 174 (ZNF174) is a member of the ZSCAN (zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing) family of transcription factors, characterized by possession of three C2H2-type zinc fingers at the carboxy-terminus and a SCAN domain at the amino-terminus, enabling self-dimerization[1][2]. It is believed to function primarily as a transcriptional repressor, binding to DNA to regulate gene expression, although the specific biological pathways and target genes remain under-characterized[2][3]. ZNF174 shows broad expression and several transcript isoforms exist due to alternative splicing[3]. Current literature does not identify it as a major therapeutic target nor link it strongly to specific disease mechanisms or drug interactions.
