Overview

Zinc finger protein 215 (ZNF215) is a member of the large family of zinc finger transcription factors, characterized by the presence of multiple zinc finger domains that enable DNA binding and transcriptional regulation[1]. ZNF215 contains an N-terminal SCAN domain, a Kruppel-associated box A (KRABA) domain, and four C-terminal C2H2-type zinc finger domains[1]. It is imprinted in a tissue-specific manner with preferential expression in the testis. ZNF215 is encoded in the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome chromosome region-2 (BWSCR2) on chromosome 11p15 and is implicated in the etiology of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, a growth disorder[1]. As a zinc finger protein, ZNF215 likely participates in gene regulatory functions, but it is not currently established as a direct therapeutic target, nor are specific drugs known to interact with it[1][4][5].
