Zinc finger protein 23 (ZNF23)

Target
ZNF23
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, C2H2-type zinc finger protein, Nucleic acid-binding protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 23 is a protein encoded by the ZNF23 gene in humans. It is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor thought to enable sequence-specific double-stranded DNA binding and participate in the regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. ZNF23 may also have a role in embryonic development, and is predicted to be active in the nucleus[1][2][6]. ZNF23 is not currently considered a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), and there are no known drugs, biomarkers, safety concerns, or well-established disease associations from the current literature[1][6]. Its principal biological role is inferred from protein family classification and gene ontology annotations as a transcriptional regulator, rather than as a classical druggable target[1][2][6].
