Zinc finger protein 235 (ZNF235)

Target
ZNF235
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein (C2H2-type), Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) family
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 235 (ZNF235) is a member of the Kruppel family of zinc finger proteins within the zinc finger protein superfamily[1]. It contains Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) A and B domains and 15 tandemly arrayed C2H2-type zinc finger domains, making it a prototypical C2H2-type DNA-binding transcription factor[1][3]. ZNF235 is thought to function in the transcriptional regulation of gene expression, though precise downstream genes and cellular roles remain incompletely characterized[1]. It is an ortholog of the mouse Zfp93 protein and is located in a cluster of zinc finger genes on human chromosome 19q13.2[1]. Diseases associated directly with ZNF235 include esophageal adenosquamous carcinoma and alexithymia[1]. There are no known therapeutic drugs targeting ZNF235 as of current available data.
