Zinc finger protein 236 is a transcription factor of the Kruppel-like zinc finger family, characterized by multiple C2H2-type zinc finger domains that enable DNA binding. It regulates gene expression by binding to RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory regions on DNA. Its biological role includes modulating transcription in response to various cellular signals. ZNF236 is encoded on human chromosome 18 and displays tissue-wide expression, including in the brain and endocrine tissues. There is no substantial evidence linking ZNF236 to specific diseases or therapeutic interventions, and it is not known to interact with drugs or serve as a clinical biomarker.
