Zinc finger protein 263 (ZNF263) is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor encoded by the ZNF263 gene in humans. This protein binds specific DNA motifs, acting primarily as a transcriptional repressor. ZNF263 is upregulated in several tumor types, including colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, glioblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer, where it plays a central role in promoting tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and resistance to apoptosis. It also influences epithelial-mesenchymal transition and regulates STAT3 signaling, linking it to cancer progression, drug resistance, and poor therapeutic response. ZNF263 harbors characteristic C2H2-type zinc finger motifs, enabling sequence-specific DNA binding. High ZNF263 expression may have value as a biomarker for aggressive forms of cancer and for predicting response to targeted therapies in oncology.
