Zinc finger protein 267 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene—genomic DNA not generally transcribed/translated into functional protein[1])
01

Overview

The zinc finger protein 267 pseudogene (ENSG00000261457) is a non-functional DNA segment similar in sequence to the protein-coding zinc finger protein 267 gene, but it does not encode a functional protein and is not documented to produce mRNA or have a biological role. Unlike the functional ZNF267 gene, which is a Kruppel-like transcription factor with documented roles in fibrogenesis and cancer[1][3], the pseudogene is not considered a therapeutic target, does not participate in cellular regulation, and is not implicated in disease. Its presence in the genome may serve as a marker of evolutionary history, but it currently has no recognized clinical or research relevance.
