Overview

Zinc finger protein 280A (ZNF280A) is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor containing four C2H2-type zinc finger domains, commonly involved in the regulation of gene expression[3]. ZNF280A acts as a transcription factor, binding to DNA and influencing the transcription of specific target genes. It has been implicated as an oncogene-like factor, promoting cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, and regulating the cell cycle and migration in cancers such as lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and colorectal cancer (CRC)[2][4]. ZNF280A exerts its effects, at least in part, by modulating downstream targets like EIF3C in LUAD and RPS14 in CRC, contributing to processes such as tumorigenesis, tumor progression, and poor prognosis in these malignancies[2][4]. As a member of the zinc finger protein family, ZNF280A is part of the largest family of transcription factors and may function in multiple biological pathways and diseases, especially various cancers[1].
