Zinc finger protein 286B (ZNF286B)

Target
ZNF286B
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 286B is a transcription factor containing zinc finger domains, which confer DNA-binding capability and allow it to regulate gene expression in human cells[1][7]. It is suggested to act primarily by controlling transcription through interactions with specific DNA sequences. ZNF286B arose recently through gene duplication from ZNF286A, leading to structural differences—most notably, loss of the KRAB domain found in ZNF286A. This KRAB-less isoform is hypothesized to permit novel regulatory functions, including potential roles in human neurogenesis and differentiation processes. A full and precise understanding of its specific biological functions remains under investigation, and to date, there is no recognized pharmacological targeting or therapeutic application for ZNF286B[2][1][7].
