Zinc finger protein 287 (ZNF287) is a member of the Krueppel family of zinc finger proteins and contains characteristic domains including KRAB and SCAN, which are typical of transcriptional regulators. It is believed to act as a transcription factor involved in DNA binding, although its specific biological function has not yet been fully determined. ZNF287 is mapped near the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17 and is associated with biological processes related to transcriptional regulation. Disease associations include prostate cancer and nanophthalmos[1][2][7].
