Overview

Zinc finger protein 300 pseudogene 1 (ZNF300P1, also known as LOC134466) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) transcript that is a pseudogene of the ZNF300 locus, sharing high sequence homology but lacking protein-coding potential[5]. ZNF300P1 is frequently hypermethylated and transcriptionally silenced in ovarian cancer, and its loss of expression has functional consequences on cell proliferation, polarity, motility, and adhesion in ovarian surface epithelial cells, potentially promoting metastasis in ovarian cancer[5]. Functionally, ZNF300P1 localizes to the nucleus, regulates gene networks involved in cell cycling and movement, and is associated with Polycomb Repressive Complex (PRC2) and CoREST chromatin modifying proteins, suggesting a role in epigenetic gene regulation[5]. ZNF300P1 methylation serves as a candidate biomarker for high-grade ovarian epithelial cancer, but there are currently no known therapeutic drugs acting on this locus and it is not considered a direct therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, or ion channel)[5][1].
