Zinc finger protein 322 pseudogene 1 (ZNF322P1) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome, named for its sequence similarity to zinc finger protein 322 (ZNF322). Unlike protein-coding members of the zinc finger protein family, ZNF322P1 is unable to produce a functional protein due to mutations or sequence disruptions and is not considered a biologically active molecule or clinical drug target. Zinc finger proteins generally function as transcription factors, regulating gene expression and participating in critical cellular roles—including metabolism, apoptosis, and differentiation.
