Zinc finger protein 330 (ZNF330) is a highly conserved, ubiquitously expressed human protein mainly localized to the nucleolus and mitochondria[1][2][6]. It contains a characteristic cysteine-rich zinc finger domain and displays metal ion binding activity, primarily binding zinc ions[3][5]. ZNF330 is implicated in apoptosis regulation, where its expression modulates cell death in response to stimuli possibly by amplifying cytochrome c-mediated signals[1]. In mitosis, ZNF330 associates with centromeres and is concentrated at the midbody during cytokinesis, suggesting functional involvement in cell division[6]. Originally identified in humans as a nucleolar autoantigen (NOA36), it is notable for its evolutionary conservation from sponges through humans, and emerging evidence points to roles in cell cycle regulation, stress response, muscle morphogenesis, and hematopoiesis[1][2][3].
