ZNF335
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Chromatin remodeling protein

Overview

Zinc finger protein 335 (ZNF335) is a protein that functions as a transcription factor and chromatin remodeling regulator. It enhances transcriptional activation by ligand-bound nuclear hormone receptors, not via direct receptor binding but by interacting with nuclear hormone receptor coactivator NRC. ZNF335 is a component of histone methyltransferase complexes (notably, the trithorax H3K4-methylation complex) and is critical for neural progenitor cell proliferation, self-renewal, proper nervous system development, and the regulation of gene expression relevant to somatic and brain development. Loss-of-function mutations in ZNF335 cause autosomal recessive microcephaly and other severe developmental syndromes[1][3][6].
