Zinc finger protein 33A (ZNF33A)

Target
ZNF33A
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 33A is a human protein encoded by the ZNF33A gene, located on chromosome 10. It is predicted to function as a DNA-binding transcription factor, involved in regulating transcription by RNA polymerase II and possibly the transcriptional control of other genes. ZNF33A is part of the zinc finger protein family, which characteristically have zinc finger motifs mediating nucleic acid interactions. Its expression is detected in various human tissues, with cytoplasmic and possibly nuclear localization. ZNF33A has been experimentally shown to interact with ZAK, a serine/threonine-protein kinase, which may modulate its function; ZAK signaling can suppress ZNF33A activity and decrease E2F expression. There is no evidence directly implicating ZNF33A as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule, nor is there documentation of notable safety concerns related to manipulating its activity in humans.
