ZNF346
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein, RNA-binding protein

Overview

Zinc finger protein 346 (ZNF346) is a nucleolar protein with several C2H2-type zinc finger domains, which preferentially binds to double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) and RNA/DNA hybrids over DNA alone. Its zinc finger regions are essential for both dsRNA binding and localization to the nucleolus. ZNF346 may play a role in cell growth and survival and is involved in protecting neurons by inhibiting inappropriate cell cycle re-entry, partly through stimulating p21 gene expression. ZNF346 is not established as a classical drug target and does not have known approved therapeutics or biomarker roles as of now, though it has been detected as a fusion partner in some cancer gene fusions[1][5][3].
