Zinc finger protein 37 homolog (ZFP37) is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor and a structural protein of the neuronal nucleus, implicated in maintenance of specialized chromatin domains, particularly in centromeric/nucleolar regions of neurons[1][2][4][5]. It contains a truncated Krüppel-associated box (KRAB) domain and a histone H1-like linker, supporting chromatin structural functions. Its expression is found predominantly in the developing nervous system and adult brain or testis in mice[2][6]. ZFP37 belongs to the largest family of transcription factors, characterized by zinc ion binding and sequence-specific interaction with regulatory regions of DNA[1][5]. No evidence suggests direct involvement in drug targeting or disease pathology for the homolog itself.
