Zinc finger protein 43 is a member of the C2H2-type zinc finger protein family, which is the largest family of transcription factors in humans[1][2][3]. This protein contains zinc finger motifs that enable it to bind DNA and function as a transcription factor, regulating the transcription of genes involved in development and potentially other cellular processes[2][3][4]. Like many C2H2 zinc finger proteins, ZNF43 possesses a KRAB domain implicated in protein-protein interactions and transcriptional repression[1][2][3].
