Overview

Zinc finger protein 442 (ZNF442) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF442 gene and is part of the large family of zinc finger transcription factors. ZNF442 is predicted to function primarily as a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor, enabling the regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, and may participate in general gene expression pathways. Its precise physiological roles and cellular partners remain poorly characterized, and there is no strong evidence that it is a direct therapeutic target or involved in specific human diseases. Unlike some other zinc finger proteins (such as ZNF224), there are no reports of ZNF442 directly functioning as an oncogene, tumor suppressor, or pharmacological target. Thus, while ZNF442 is a nuclear transcription factor with a likely regulatory role, it is not currently of direct therapeutic or diagnostic relevance based on available data.
