Zinc finger protein 460 (ZNF460)

ZNF460
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Zinc finger protein, KRAB domain-containing protein
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 460 (ZNF460) is a member of the KRAB-domain containing C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factors. It binds DNA in a sequence-specific manner, potentially regulating gene expression by functioning as a transcriptional regulator. It is encoded on human chromosome 19 and is ubiquitously expressed at low levels in most tissues. ZNF460 has been implicated in the promotion of epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer metastasis in gastric cancer by transactivating the APOC1 gene; it also drives cancer progression in oral squamous cell carcinoma and supports leukemic cell proliferation in acute myeloid leukemia through the NF-κB pathway. There are currently no known drugs directly targeting this transcription factor, and it is not considered a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel; rather, it is a transcription factor with disease association through regulation of cancer-related genes.
