Overview

Zinc finger protein 468 (ZNF468) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a predicted DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger family, which typically regulates gene expression by sequence-specific binding to DNA. ZNF468 is active in the nucleus and is thought to be involved in RNA polymerase II-dependent transcriptional regulation. It is expressed broadly in tissues with higher levels in placenta, pancreas, and small intestine. Recent research indicates roles in cancer, including promoting malignant growth and chemoresistance in breast cancer cells, and modulating cell cycle and apoptosis in esophageal carcinoma[1][3][7][9][11]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target ZNF468, and it is not considered a standard therapeutic target in clinical practice.
