Overview

Zinc finger protein 490 (ZNF490) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF490 gene, classified as a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor. ZNF490 is predicted to function in the nucleus, enabling sequence-specific DNA binding and playing a role in the regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. The protein is generally thought to modulate gene expression by acting as either an activator or repressor of transcription through direct binding to DNA. While other zinc finger proteins often participate in diverse biological processes such as cell cycle control, apoptosis, immune response, and tumorigenesis, there is currently no published evidence of ZNF490 acting as a direct therapeutic target or being modulated by any approved drugs. Diseases associated with ZNF490 include Immunodeficiency 30 and Congenital myopathy 4A (autosomal dominant). Its broader importance, like other zinc finger proteins, lies in transcriptional regulation and its potential to influence various cellular processes, but its direct disease associations and therapeutic targeting remain limited based on available data[1][2][3][5][6].
