Overview

Zinc finger protein 514 is a C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factor encoded by the ZNF514 gene, located on chromosome 2 in humans[4][16]. As a member of the largest family of transcriptional regulators in mammals, ZNF514 is predicted to bind sequence-specifically to cis-regulatory DNA regions and regulate transcription, primarily through RNA polymerase II[4][7][11][17]. ZNF514 localizes predominantly to the nucleus and is differentially expressed across human tissues, with higher expression in the endometrium, skin, brain regions, and several tumor tissues[1][8][15]. ZNF514 is implicated in the regulation of genes crucial for cell proliferation, development, and cancer progression[1][6][10]. Recent pan-cancer studies have identified ZNF514 as a prognostic biomarker in multiple tumor types, particularly those where elevated expression correlates with poorer survival or altered immune microenvironments[1]. It is associated with disease roles mainly in oncology and, to a lesser extent, in certain neurodevelopmental disorders[1][4]. There are currently no drugs or approved therapies targeting ZNF514, and its functional roles are under ongoing investigation, especially regarding its effects on tumor progression, metastasis, and immune infiltration[1].
