Zinc finger protein 544 (ZNF544) is a protein encoded by the *ZNF544* gene, located on chromosome 19q13.43 in humans[1][7]. It belongs to the zinc finger protein family, which are characterized by the presence of zinc finger domains that facilitate DNA binding. ZNF544 is predicted to act as a sequence-specific transcription factor, regulating transcription mediated by RNA polymerase II through interactions with cis-regulatory DNA regions[1][4][7]. Its expression is widespread across tissues, especially in the brain and other organs[5][6]. Although ZNF544 is not currently a recognized therapeutic target, fusion genes involving ZNF544 (such as ZNF544-AP2A1) have been detected in human cancers including glioblastoma, suggesting a possible role in rare disease contexts[3]. In such cases, the fusion may disrupt normal transcriptional control[3]. No drug interactions, established biomarkers, or safety concerns are presently described for ZNF544[1][3][7].
