Overview

Zinc finger protein 574 (ZNF574) is a human protein encoded by the ZNF574 gene and belongs to the zinc finger protein family, specifically the C2H2-type, which are generally involved in binding DNA and regulating gene transcription[1][2][7]. ZNF574 is predicted to function as a DNA-binding transcription activator, acting in a sequence-specific manner at RNA polymerase II cis-regulatory regions, and is thought to exert its function within the nucleus[1][2][7]. While ZNF574 is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel, it has gained interest in cancer research: it has been characterized as an oncogene, implicated in regulating cell proliferation and migration through pathways such as AKT and AMPK, particularly in ovarian and colorectal cancers[1]. There are currently no approved drugs known to specifically target ZNF574, nor is it established as a biomarker or subject to notable safety concerns in therapeutic contexts[7].
